Survival and fertility of lymantria dispar and lymantria monacha treated with juvenoids at the larval stage

Doses of 0.08-0.2 .mu.g/sp. of ethyl 3,7-dimethyl-9-cyclohexyl-2,4-nonadienoate, its methylcyclohexyl homologues and of isopropyl 11-methoxy-3,7,11-trimethyl-2,4-dodecadienoate applied to the last instar larvae of L. dispar inhibited metamorphosis in half of the treated insects and apparently sterilized those which emerged as adult moths. Field sprays [on oak and spruce branches] of water emulsions containing 0.17% of the first mentioned compound prevented adult emergence of both L. dispar and L. monacha at doses corresponding to 0.5 kg of active compound/ha.
