Susceptibility of certain field crops to nematoda heteroderidae infection by meloidogyne javanica and meloidogyne incognita acrita

Sesame [Sesamum indicum] and maize [Zea mays] were resistant to M. javanica and M. incognita acrita infection. Cotton [Gossypium barbadense] was resistant to M. javanica only. Onion [Allium cepa] and soybean [Glycine max] were highly infected with M. javanica in comparison with the other tested hosts. Soybean also was highly infected with M. incognita acrita. Wheat [Triticum aestivum] showed the lowest nematode populations on its roots. Severity of galls corresponded with the nematode populations. Statistical analysis of the data indicates that there were significant differences between the tested hosts. The interaction between nematode species and hosts was significant.
