An experimental B. thuringiensis Berliner exotoxin preparation, ABG-6146, from Abbott Laboratories, was tested for efficacy against the alfalfa weevil, H. postica (Gyllenhal), in the laboratory. A [alfalfa] foliage-dipping technique in which solutions of 0.2, 0.02, 0.002, and 0.0002% ai [active ingredient] were applied was used. Mortality comparable to field rates of carbofuran was obtained with 3rd stage larvae within 48 h and with adults in 5-9 days at the 0.2% rate.
