Synthesis and study of 2 4 aminophenyl thiazoles for in vitro anti tuberculosis activity and as useful chemo therapeutic intermediates

2-(4-Aminophenyl) thiazoles were synthesized from various haloketones and 4-aminothiobenzamide as useful chemotherapeutic intermediates and were screened for in vitro antituberculosis activity. Many thiazoles showed significant antituberculosis activity and 2 of these showed activity comparable with that of PAS (p-aminosalicylic acid) and ethionamide under identical conditions of in vitro testing.
