A study of Neogene turtles of the northern Black Sea permitted the revision of the systematic position of some previously known species, including those from Central Europe. The territory of Moldavia and the Ukraine in the Neogene was inhabited by Trionyx brunhuberi, Chelydropsis noposai, Emydoidea tarashchuki sp. nov., Emys orbicularis antiqua, and representatives of the genera Sakya and Melanochelys.
