Metakatianna Denis 1933 is suppressed. All species are 1st instars of several genera of Katiannidae, Bourletiellidae and Sminthuridae. Sminthurinus flammeolus Gisin 1957 becomes the type of GISINIANUS gen. nov. Novokatianna Salmon 1940 belongs to the Sminthuridae. Sminthurotheca Delamare et Massoud is suppressed; its type is a Sphyrotheca. Prorastriopes Delamare 1947 is a senior synonym of Andiella Stach 1955 and Fasciosminthurus Gisin 1960.
