Systematics of saldula palustris from the oregon usa coast heteroptera saldidae


, : Systematics of saldula palustris from the oregon usa coast heteroptera saldidae. Pan-Pacific Entomologist 55(3): 222-227

Insects from the Oregon coast, identified by available keys as S. palustris, differ in several important features from the species as originally described in Europe. To resolve the identity of the Oregon species, distribution and morphological characters were compared between Oregon and European S. palustris and S. pallipes, a closely related species. Results indicate that the coastal Oregon species identified as S. palustris is not the same as the European insect of that name and that the previously suppressed name of S. fernaldi should be revived and applied to the Oregon species.
