Tannin compounds in seed extracts of myrtus communis

The phenolic compounds obtained by alcoholic extraction of M. communis L. seeds were examined. A fractionation of the extracts showed that these products are rich in compounds of the polyphenol type and of a tannin nature, as much in hydrolyzable as in condensed tannins, which are the final products of the fractionation process, with a high degree of purification and with a specific activity of 5.2.
