The amino terminal sequence of 3 coat proteins of foot and mouth disease virus

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications 85(4): 1640-1645

The amino terminal sequence of 3 coat proteins of foot and mouth disease virus

The N[amino]-terminal section of the amino acids sequences of 3 coat proteins of foot-and-mouth disease virus were determined and compared with the first 10 amino acids of the corresponding Mengo virus proteins. In the proteins of the 2 viruses beginning with aspartic acid, 5 of 10 amino acids are in identical positions.
