The chemistry of the euphorbiaceae part 24 lup 20 29 ene 3 beta 16 beta 28 triol from beyeria brevifolia var brevifolia
A new triterpene triol from the title plant was shown to be lup-20(29)-ene-3.beta.,16.beta.,28-triol (1) by degradation to deoxyallobetulin and to lupane-3.beta.,16.beta.-diol. Treatment of the triol (1) with subsequent acetylation, and of betulin with concentrated hydrochloric acid in ethanol was found to give the 20,28-epoxy-19.alpha.H-lupane derivatives (12) and (13) respectively. Amendments are given to the names of a number of plants examined in this series.
