The X-ray appearance of the heart and pulmonary circulation was studied in 54 patients with congestive cardiomyopathy and compared to other clinical data. The changes in the heart were discovered to depend on the circulatory failure stage, heart rhythm disorders and pulmonary thrombosis. The leading symptom of congestive cardiomyopathy was the enlargement of the heart chambers whose size was affected by the complications occurring in this disease. The changes in the pulmonary circulation are characteristic of venous congestion. The examined patients demonstrated no pronounced symptoms of arterial pulmonary hypertension.
