Crystals of the title compound are monoclinic, a = 9.326 (1), b = 11.720 (1), c = 12.166 (1) .ANG., .beta. = 109.23 (1).degree., Z = 4, space group P21/c. The atomic positions were determined by direct methods and refined by full-matrix least squares to an R of 0.044 for 1955 reflections. The bicyclo[3.3.1]nonane system adopts a boat-chair conformation. The structure is held together by a system of H- bonds. [Spiro granatanine derivatives are of interest for their pharmacological properties.].
