The diagnostic value of erythrocytic immunoreagents used for the detection of opisthorchis antigens

, : The diagnostic value of erythrocytic immunoreagents used for the detection of opisthorchis antigens. Meditsinskaya Parazitologiya i Parazitarnye Bolezni (5): 37-40

Passive hemagglutination (PHA) and antibody neutralization (AbN) tests, with erythrocytic antibody and antigen reagents included as diagnosticums, were used for the detection of O. felineus antigens in the feces of opisthorchiasis patients. Higher sensitivity of PHA versus AbN was found at any concentration of O. felineus eggs in the stool and bile. The use of erythrocyte antibody reagents for the detection of antigens in the material studied permitted diagnosing chronic opisthorchiasis in 65-70% of those examined. The method was especially valuable in cases with negative ovoscopic results.
