The ecological and geographical features of micro flora of taimyr tundra soils russian sfsr ussr

The production of bacteria and the floristic composition of the soil microflora in the different physical and geographical subzones of Taimyr tundra, as well as in the ecologically different part within the boundaries of the particular subzone, were studied. Biomass production and the character of microbocenoses fluctuated under changing ecological conditions and climate. The influence of climate under extreme conditions is considerably greater than the influence of the habitat. Oligotrophic forms and microorganisms utilizing mineral N predominated. Mineralization in the Taimyr tundra is discussed.
