The effect of anthranilic acid on the biosynthesis of intra cellular tryptophan in candida tropicalis

The possibility for increasing the amount of intracellular tryptophan upon cultivation of C. tropicalis strains in a Biotec fermentor in nutrient media of wood hydrolysate and anthranilic acid as a precursor was studied. The content of lysine and methionine in the yeast biomass was determined. The free tryptophan in the cells increased up to 3.37 times and the total tryptophan up to 50% compared with the controls. The content of lysine and methionine slightly increased by 14.6 and 2.6%, respectively. The yield of absolutely dry yeasts decreased to 54% when the protein content increased up to 10%.
