The physiological-biochemical actions of gonadotropins as indicated by the degree of similarity between the effects of gonadotropins on the isozyme composition of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and xanthine dehydrogenase (XDH) in various tissues of the female loach Misgurnus fossilis were studied. In mature loach under the effect of gonadotropic hormone preparations extracted from carp hypophysis (GTH 1 and GTH 2), in 4 of 5 tissues studied (ovulated eggs, liver, skin and spleen) dissimilar changes of the isozyme spectra of LDH and XDH were observed. The nature of the differences in the accumulation of isoforms depended on the type of tissue and on the nature of the enzyme studied. The most substantial differences in the effects of GTH 1 and GTH 2 were revealed in the isozyme spectra of both enzymes in loach eggs.
