The effectiveness of basal phosphorus potassium fertilization of pea in the high fertilization system

In pot trials, NPK fertilization influenced the yield only in comparison with the unfertilized and the NK-fertilized variants. The best NPK ratio was obtained at the lower fertilizer application rate (1650 mg per pot), reading 1.7: 1:2, whereas at the higher NPK application rate (3150 mg per pot) the ratio was 0.6:1:1.4. In field experiments conducted at 2 localities in the beet-growing region and 2 localities in the potato-growing regions, direct NPK fertilization at rates of N 20 kg per ha, P 16 to 48 kg per ha and K 38 to 110 kg per ha did not lead to significant improvement of the yields at a high fertilization rate within the rotation system. The effect of the term of fertilization was not explicit: spring application was more effective only in the seasons with higher autumn rainfall rates. The involvement of different factors in the formation of the yield was elucidated: at the stand density of 700,000-800,000 plants per ha at harvest time, the thousand-seed weight and the number of seeds per pod acted as autoregulatory yield-forming factors (with 7 to 12 pods per plant).
