The genus brachionus rotifera brachionidae in australia with a description of brachionus kostei new species

B. kostei sp. nov. from waters of the Goulburn River, Victoria, is described and figured. It has affinities with the B. urceolaris group. B. forficula is also described and figured and is a new record for Australia. This Queensland species shows minor variations from the typical form. Species (22) and subspecies/varieties (22) of Brachionus frm Australian waters are listed, with known distributions.
