The analysis of glycopeptides derived from the glycoproteins present in the mucosa and in the juice from the fundus and from the antrum of dogs indicated that they shared a similar basic structure, but that they differed by their content in fucose, sialic acid and sulfates. The mucus from the fundus contained mainly sulfated glycoproteins while the mucus from the antrum contained almost exclusively neutral glycoproteins and sialoglycoproteins. The composition of the glycoproteins presented in the cells of the mucosa and those secreted was similar both in the fundus and the antrum.
