Seven species of Phaeocollybia (Agaricales, Cortinariaceae) are discussed, of which P. spoliata Horak, P. attenuata (Smith) Sing. ssp. attenuata, P. christinae (Fr.) Heim and P. californica Smith are new records from Mexico (States of Veracruz and Hidalgo), and P. mexicana Corner and Horak, P. kauffmanii (Smith) Sing. and P. lugubris (Fr.) Heim are recorded for the first time from the States of Veracruz and Morelos. These fungi are common in coniferous forests and characterized by their stipe with a subterranean elongation (pseudorhiza) deeply buried in humus.
