The losses of coccinella septempunctata population during the 1st cutting of forage leguminosae

, : The losses of coccinella septempunctata population during the 1st cutting of forage leguminosae. Sbornik UVTI (Ustav Vedeckotechnickych Informaci) Ochrana Rostlin 14(3): 233-236

In 1977 an evaluation was made of the losses to the imaginal population of C. septempunctata L. during the 1st cutting of alfalfa and clover in central Bohemia [Czechoslovakia]. It was based on the following data: estimation of the portion of C. septempunctata L. population present on forage Leguminosae at the time of 1st cutting (64%); this was made by visual counting of C. septempunctata L. population densities on various crops and the percentage of farm land occupied by these crops; estimation of the percentage of forage leguminosae cropped by chopper harvester (65%); and estimation of the percentage of C. septempunctata destroyed by the chopper harvester (94%). From data 38% of total C. septempunctata L. populations on farm land were destroyed by machine cropping of forage Leguminosae.
