The low marine eemian level of graye sur mer calvados france

, : The low marine eemian level of graye sur mer calvados france. Bulletin de la Societe Linneenne de Normandie 107: 21-26

Borings in the littoral marsh of Graye-sur-Mer (Calvados) showed calcareous marine sands under Wuermian loess. The microfauna-foraminifera and ostracods are characteristic of supra to medio-littoral environments. These sands, laid down at the foot of a fossil cliff, probably correspond to deposits of the Eemian sea level (stage of stabilization or beginning of a regression). These sands are compared to other ones in the same geomorphological context on the coast of the Normandy. An Eemian age is proposed for the sands with Modiolus modiolus observed between - 1m and + 5m O.D.[ordinance datum] on the littoral of the Calvados department.
