The lowermost dinantian from the babilon 1 column western pomerania

, : The lowermost dinantian from the babilon 1 column western pomerania. Acta Geologica Polonica 25(4): 451-504

A litho-stratigraphic sequence of pre-Zechstein sediments is presented. The stratigraphic value of the molluscan fauna [gastropods, bivalves] encountered in the sequence is analyzed and compared to brachiopods (Matyja 1975b) and microflora (Turnau 1975). Sediments of the uppermost Famennian (Fa2), Strunian (Tn1a) and possibly the lowermost portion of the Tournaisian (Tn1b) are distinguished. The Devonian-Carboniferous boundary may be placed at the bottom of the Strunian series. The sedimentary history of the Devonian-Dinantian time is described. The problem of the Devonian-Carboniferous boundary is dealt with in general.
