The lupine aphid macrosiphum albifrons new record essig a new insect pest and virus vector in germany

, : The lupine aphid macrosiphum albifrons new record essig a new insect pest and virus vector in germany. Journal of Applied Entomology 104(5): 510-518

The lupin aphid, Macrosiphum albifrons, observed for the first time in Germany, was shown to transmit a strain of CuMV that causes severe symptoms in lupins. Only species of the genus Lupinus served as hostplants despite their alkaloid-content which didn't allow other aphids to survive. The data presented indicate that M. albifrons is a newly established pest at least in the region around Giessen in central Hesse, F.R.G.
