The maastrichtian age of the rouquette outcrop paraza commune minervois france

, : The maastrichtian age of the rouquette outcrop paraza commune minervois france. Bulletin de la Societe d'Histoire Naturelle de Toulouse 123: 151-158

The marls and limestones which form the outcrop of la Rouquette (Paraza, Minervois, Southern France) contain a microflora (Septorella brachycera, Peckichara cancellata, Porochara malladae) characteristic of the begudo-rognacian facies from the provencal and pyrenean Maastrichtian, and a micromalacofauna with new fossils (Physidae, Planorbidae, Islamia? sp.) only known in beds of the same age from Petites Pyrenees (Auzas marls). This assemblage proves the Maastrichtian (probably upper) age of this outcrop, till now dated with lithologic analogies. A new species of Charophyte, Microchara parazensis is described.
