The machilidae archaeognatha apterygota insecta of northwestern germany and the zoo geographic significance of their occurrence

, : The machilidae archaeognatha apterygota insecta of northwestern germany and the zoo geographic significance of their occurrence. Drosera 80(2): 53-62

A key is given for the 6 spp. of Machilidae [Dilta hibernica (Carpenter, 1907), Lepismachilis y-signata Kratochvil, 1945; Machilis germanica Janetschek, 1953; M. oudemansi Wygodzinsky, 1954; Petrobius brevistylus Carpenter, 1913; Trigoniophthalmus alternatus (Silvestri, 1905)] occurring in northwestern Germany and neighboring regions. The localities mentioned in the literature and new localities are registered. The importance of these and some other data for zoogeography are discussed; i.e., for example, the possible role played by water in the dispersal and the geographical distribution of special intraspecific scale patterns.
