The macrophyte communities of the parma torrent stream bed north italy in relation to morphology and composition of the sediments

, : The macrophyte communities of the parma torrent stream bed north italy in relation to morphology and composition of the sediments. Ateneo Parmense Acta Naturalia 15(3): 221-240

Phytosociological and sedimentological data were taken on 19 transepts of the torrent Parma (Appennine affluent of the river Po, North Italy). The transepts were chosen on the basis of the morphology of the river-bed and vegetal groupings were noticed which placed at different heights on the talweg. Due to hydrological factors, the zonation of the vegetal groupings corresponds to the topographic zonation of the sediments. Particularly, the 2 physical factors which appear significantly determinant in the stating of the type of macrophytological association are the height of the talweg and the quantity of row elements existing in the sediment. Therefore, the relations found with the relative sediment type will be discussed for each vegetal grouping described.

The metal carbonates are formed by reaction of the heavy-metal i...
