The macrophyte vegetation of 3 lakes in dunite areas in sunnmore west norway

, : The macrophyte vegetation of 3 lakes in dunite areas in sunnmore west norway. Blyttia 36(1): 19-26

The macrophyte vegetation of 3 lakes in Sunnmore, More og Romsdal county, West Norway, is described, and ecological conditions are discussed. The bedrock in the area consists mainly of gneisses, but there are also considerable dunite areas. From chemical parameters the lakes are described as oligotrophic, moderately acid to neutral, poor in Ca and electrolytes, and oligohumous to mesohumous. In the lakes Bjorkedalsvatn and Gusdalsvatn the botton substratum in the shallow zones mainly consists of minerogenous materials, and isoetids and Myriophyllum alterniflorum dominate the vegetation. The lake Grubsevatn has more organogenous materials, and helophytes and nymphaeids are predominating. According to the floristic lake type system, Bjorkedalsvatn and Gusdalsvatn are classified as Lobelia lakes, Grubsevatn as a transitional type between Lobelia lakes and dy lakes.
