The maintenance of cytochrome p 450 in liver cell culture recent studies on cytochrome p 450 mediated mechanisms of toxicity
Rat hepatocytes were cultured under conditions that resulted in low and high cytochrome P-450 concentrations and then used as a screening test to determine the involvement of cytochrome P-450 in toxicity. Apparently, a limitation to the use of cultured hepatocytes in toxicity tests is the lack of extrahepatic release mechanisms of toxic compounds.
