The meat ant iridomyrmex purpureus hymenoptera formicidae as a dominant member of ant communities

Dominant ants are defined as abundant and influential members of ant communities. Observations are reported to illustrate the dominance of I. purpureus s.s., using catches of pitfall traps to show its effects on other members of the surface fauna.
