Effect of hypervitaminosis A on the metabolism of some lipid fractions was studied in brain of growing rats. High concentrations of vitamin A were found to cause a decrease in metabolic activity of cholesterol esters and in cholesterol concentration in brain, but the content of cholesterol esters increased both in the brain and in the spinal cord. The data obtained suggest that demyelination developed under hypervitaminosis A.
