Two types of neurohemal structures, the sinus gland and the pericardial organ, are described in the crab Pachygrapsus marmoratus. The sinus gland, associated with the optic lobes, is bounded by a stromal sheath and consists of clusters of axonal endings filled with four kinds of electron-dense granules, as well as of glial cells. The pericardial organ consists of axonal endings filled with four other kinds of electron-dense granules. In both structures, the mechanism of hormone release is linked with exocytosis and synaptic vesicles.
