The opilinoid fauna of 2 contrasting habitats on limestone was studied in the course of a year by extraction of soil and litter samples and by means of pitfall traps. There were 8 spp. in the beech wood; dominant were Lophopilio palpinalis (with a mean annual density of 3.5 individuals/m2) and Mitopus morio (1.4 individuals/m2). Seven species inhabited a dry grassland; dominant were Rilaena triangularis (8.4 individuals/m2) and Nemastoma lugubre (3.5 individuals/m2). Data on the phenology of some species are presented and the role of opilionids in the beech wood ecosystem is discussed. Other species found include: Trogulus nepaeformis, Anelasmocephalus cambridgei, Opilio ravennae, Platybunus bucephalus, Oligolophus tridens, Lacinius ephipplatus, L. horridus and Leiobunum rotundum.
