The presumed tadpole of paratelmatobius lutzi amphibia leptodactylidae

, : The presumed tadpole of paratelmatobius lutzi amphibia leptodactylidae. Papeis Avulsos de Zoologia (Sao Paulo) 30(10): 133-135

Mouthpart morphology of the P. lutzi tadpole showed that it was adapted for life in running water. The degree of stream adaptedness of the Paratelmatobius larvae does not clarify the relationships of the genus to other leptodactylid genera. Lynch (1971) and Heyer (1975) offer quite different hypotheses concerning the generic relationships of Paratelmatobius. The only other known leptodactylid larvae with complete marginal papillae are Bartrachyla and Telmatobufo. The sharing of this specialization may represent convergent adaptation to stream habitats rather than being indicative of close relationship.
