A total of 2000 cases, of which 1803 belonging to high risk groups and 197 controls, were examined for the presence of antibodies to Human Immunodeficiency Virus by HIV EIA (Enzyme Immunoassay), from October 1985 to March 1986. HIV antibody found to be positive 1.87% in male homosexuals, 0.82% in prostitutes and 0.86% in patients under haemodialysis.
