The preventive influence of cysteamine on the teratogenic action of 5 aza cytidine

, : The preventive influence of cysteamine on the teratogenic action of 5 aza cytidine. Life Sciences 23(9): 897-900

The radioprotective agent cysteamine can prevent the teratogenic action [including exencephaly, mecrophthalmia, cleft lip and anal atresia] of 5-azacytidine in rat fetuses. The preventive influence of cysteamine was observed when applied to the mother not only 3 h and 30 min before the 5-azacytidine administration, but also 30 min after it. The application of cysteamine 3 h after the administration of 5-azacytidine showed no preventive influence.
