Abstract
The reproductive features of A. stellatus in the Lower Volga River were determined with regards the ecological conditions in 1981-1985. Data were presented on larval downstream migration and larval sizes. The potential capacity of spawning grounds left in the Lower Volga River after flow regulation was determined. The effectiveness of stellate sturgeon spawning is subject to significant changes at the present time. It depends on a combination of factors, the most important of which are the flow volume during the low water period and spawners' passage to the spawning grounds.
