The role of cyto kinins in the development and metabolism of barley hordeum vulgare cultivar damazy leaves 4. the effect on rna polymerase activity at the early senescence phase of excised leaves

DNA-dependent RNA polymerase activity rapidly decreases during the first 14 h after excision and incubation of leaves in darkness and water. The decrease concerns especially .alpha.-amanitin sensitive RNA polymerase, while .alpha.-amanitin resistant enzyme activity appears more stable at this early phase of leaf senescence. Cytokinin (N6-isopentenyladenine) markedly prevents this depression; its effect is connected mainly with the activity of the .alpha.-amanitin sensitive enzyme activity.
