Both plant communities described are composed of species of a broad ecological valency. It was not possible to determine their characteristic taxa in the study area, so the deductive method of syntaxonomical classification (in the sense of Kopecky et Hejny 1978) was applied. Two basal communities were established, Carduus acanthoides-[Onopordetalia] and Echinops sphaerocephalus-[Onopordetalia/Arrhenatheretalia]. The former is largely distributed in the area studied. It can be found on heaps and bare abandoned sites. The latter occurs scattered in the region of the alluvium of the river Vah, mostly on dikes along roads and the river itself. A high portion of the species of the order Arrhenatheretalia in the floristic composition indicates its syntaxonomical position at the boundary between Onopordetalia and Arrhenatheretalia.
