The shelf life of guava psidium guajava cultivar sardar fruits with polythene packaging and chemical treatments

The polythene packaging was highly effective in checking weight loss (2.21-2.3% vs. 33.18% with no polythene) and maintaining turgidity and glossiness. Naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) at 150 and N6-benzyladenine (BA) at 15 ppm were optimum and effective in arresting ripening process. The treatment, 150 ppm NAA for 5 min dip + 150 gauge polythrene with 0.05% vents was best for prolonging the shelf-life of Sardar [L-49]guava fruits.
