The variability of heat resistance within populations and clones of hydra hydra oligactis and daphnia daphnia magna

The heat resistance of H. oligactis Pall. and D. magna Straus was determined under conditions when the phenotypical variability of this characteristic within a population is due largely to its genetic heterogeneity and the intraclonal variability within an isolated clone depends on an environmental (thermal) factor. The intrapopulational variability is either lower or equal to the intraclonal one. This suggests a high phenotypical plasticity of this characteristic which might hinder the thermal selection.
