The versatile audio dosimeter

, : The versatile audio dosimeter. American Industrial Hygiene Association Journal 39(3): 256-260

This system can be used in many ways as a versatile industrial hygiene tool. It can be used as monitor to measure noisy machinery. It can be adapted as an area monitor anticipating the noise exposure of all personnel in the vicinity of a noise source. The system can record the noise source and a calculation will give the hearing zone exposure of personnel operating equipment. Percentage readouts tend to differ greatly but this system gives a strip chart copy of the noise and a pictorial explanation for the difference. This kind of information lends itself to identification and interpretation of the noise source.
