The virgen valley of eastern tirol austria an inter alpine strip of dry land little studied

, : The virgen valley of eastern tirol austria an inter alpine strip of dry land little studied. Phytocoenologia 6: 303-316

The Virgen valley receives precipitation of < 900 mm/yr. Stands of Juniperus sabina rich in species of dry meadows occur on southern slopes, especially near Praegraten. Using 25 phytosociological releves, these stands are compared with the Piceetum montanum on northern slopes, the Larix-pastures in higher sites and the dry Hippophae-pastures on moraines. Research is in progress.
