Three malate dehydrogenase isoenzymes were found in cucumber and melon leaf extracts by chromatography on DEAE-cellulose. Each isoenzyme showed 1 band on polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The electrophoretic mobility of individual isoenzymes differed between the plant species. The thermostability of total enzyme fractions and of individual enzymes was higher in melon than in cucumber, indicating the difference in the heat-loving nature of the 2 spp.
