Tobacco mosaic virus experiments with growing condition time of infection and yield in tomato as influenced by attenuated tomato strains of tobacco mosaic virus

Two attenuated TMV-strains were compared in 2 localities using 2 infection times, 2 cultivars ['Reverdan' and 'Clavito'] and 2 methods of culture. TMV-strain K 5845-0 caused weak to moderate leaf symptoms throughout the growing period, while TMV-strain M II16-1 caused more pronounced symptoms 5 mo. after inoculation. The TMV-strain M II16-1 gave higher values than the TMV-strain K 5845-0.
