Tremadocian conodont from sierra de cajas department of humanhuac jujuy province argentina

, : Tremadocian conodont from sierra de cajas department of humanhuac jujuy province argentina. Boletin de la Academia Nacional de Ciencias (Cordoba) 56(3-4): 333-348

A Conodont fauna from the top of the Lampazar Formation and the floor of the Cardonal Formation, cropping out in the Sierra de Cahas, Jujuy Province, Argentina, is described. It is composed by Cordylodus proavus Mueller, Teridontus nakamurai (Nogami) Miller, Prooneotodus sp. 1 and Prooneotodus sp. 2. The occurrence of the multielemental conodont guide species Cordylodus proavus Mueller, allows to corroborate a Lower Tremadocian age for such formations previously established accord to its trilobites fauna of the Parabolina argentina Zone, which is coincident in the "Sierra de Cajas", as in Oaxaca, Mexico, with the Cordylodus proavus Zone.
