Trends in prostate cancer in ireland 1954 1981

, : Trends in prostate cancer in ireland 1954 1981. Irish Journal of Medical Science 156(1): 6-8

The age-specific deaths from cancer of the prostate and hyperplasia of the prostate for the age-groups 0-64, 65+ and all-ages were standardised for the years 1954-81. Deaths from cancer rose by 66% during this period and from hyperplasia fell by 69%. It is postulated that the most plausible explanation of the rise in deaths from cancer is a shift in prognosis.
