Tri cyclic di terpenes from the brown marine algae dictyota divaricata and dictyota linearis

, : Tri cyclic di terpenes from the brown marine algae dictyota divaricata and dictyota linearis. Journal of Organic Chemistry 47(5): 811-815

Mixed collections of 2 toxic brown seaweeds, D. linearis and D. divaricata, were studied from 5 collection sites in the Hondruas Bay Islands. The 2 dolastane diterpenes were isolated. Five new dolastanes were characterized. A combination of 13C and 1H NMR experiments or chemical correlations supported structural and stereochemical assignments. Several of these compounds had interesting pharmacological properties.
