Two cases of multiple early esophageal carcinoma without vessel and lymphnode involvement (stage 0) were presented. Case 1: A 64-year-old man suspected to have a gastric polyp at gastric mass survey received upper GI X-ray and endoscopic examinations. A superficial, depressed lesion in Im, 0.3 .times. 0.5 cm in size, moderately differentiated squamous cell carcinoma limited to epithelium, and a superficial depressed lesion in Ei-Ea, 2 .times. 1 cm in size, moderately differentiated squamous cell carcinoma limited to mucosa were seen in the esophagus. Case 2: A 71-year-old woman was admitted because of anorexia and epigastric discomfort. Four years ago she had a past history of operated right breast cancer followed by postoperative irradiation. A superficial, elevated lesion in Im, 1.5 .times. 1.6 .times. 0.7 cm in size, moderately differentiated squamous cell carcinoma limited to mucosa, and a superficial depressed lesion in Ea, 0.8 .times. 1.2 cm in size, moderately differentiated squamous cell carcinoma limited to submucosa were seen in the esophagus. Gastric ulcer was also found and its biopsy was classified into Group I.
