Use of haloperidol and methylphenidate in mentally retarded children with behavioral problems

Use of haloperidol and methylphenidate in mentally retarded children with behavioral problems

Revista Cubana de Medicina 26(7): 796-802

A study is made at Sancti Spiritus diagnosis and Guidance Center with mentally retarded children, who in addition to the learning problems had behavioral disorders. The selective effect of methylphenidate in learning and of haloperidol in behavioral disorders as well as the two drugs in hyperkinesia are pointed out as conclusions. The low rate of untoward effects is emphasized, which supports the use of this drug in the treatment of these children.
